Anna Hazare starts another agitation to fight corruption

Anna Hazare starts another agitation to fight corruption

New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare will sit on a day-long fast at
Jantar Mantar on Sunday to demand that Parliament pass the Lokpal Bill
and a stronger whistleblower protection programme. Anna will also
protest the death of Madhya Pradesh IPS officer Narendra Kumar, who
was killed by suspected mining mafia on March 8 in Madhya Pradesh.
Narendra Kumar's family is also likely to be part of the Anna's fast
at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.

Anna is demanding protection for whistleblowers, a portion that has
been removed from the final version of the bill drafted by the
government. Families of murdered whistleblowers like S Manjunath and
Amit Jethwa are likely to be at the fast venue.
This will be the first hunger strike undertaken by 74-year-old Anna
Hazare after he called off his three-day fast for a strong Lokpal Bill
in Mumbai last December owing to failing health.
"We have been preparing for the last ten days. We have been sending
out SMSes, distributing pamphlets and doing street plays in Delhi-NCR
(National Capital Region)," said an official of Team Anna. "We are
focusing on the youth and street plays and interactive sessions are
are being conducted in Delhi University and the Jawaharlal Nehru
University (JNU)," added the official.
More than 1,000 police personnel will be deputed at Jantar Mantar, a
senior police officer said on Saturday. Delhi Police have given
conditional permission to Team Anna for the protest on the issue of
alleged killings of several honest men and officers by organised mafia
or in terror attacks.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Seju Kuruvilla said a legal
undertaking has been taken from Team Anna. "The organisers have
confirmed the presence of the father of IPS officer Narendra Kumar who
was killed in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh while intercepting a
tractor-trolley carrying illegally-mined stones," he said.
He said the family of Indian Oil Corporation officer Manjunath
Shanmugam, who was shot dead in Lakhimpur Kheri while trying to stop
sale of adulterated oil, is also likely to be present at Jantar Mantar
on Sunday.
Kuruvilla further added that Team Anna informed him about the presence
of around 40 such families at Jantar Mantar whose kin were either
killed by mafia or during terror attacks.
"We have told them that the crowd should not be more than 1,000
people. Around 10 metal detectors will be placed at three entry points
with 1,000 police personnel to avoid any untoward incident," he added.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Team Anna member Kiran Bedi said that that the
government's draft of the Lokpal Bill is weak. Bedi said that Anna has
full recovered from his illness. "Anna's health is not a concern. He
is well and has recovered substantially," she said.
"The kind of deaths the whistleblowers' familes have suffered could
have been prevented. All people are looking for is an agency they can
trust," she said.
On the separate law for whistleblowers, she said, "The Whistlebowers
Bill which they have drafted goes back to the same police systems.
It's not an independent system."

Sport News:Messi and I think quicker: Maradona

Diego Maradona believes there is one trait that sets himself and
Lionel Messi apart from the rest when it comes to discussing the best
players of all time - speed of thought.

For many years Maradona was one half of the great debate as to who was
the best ever player - him or Brazilian Pele.

But with Messi's recent record-breaking exploits, many consider him to
be a legitimate contender for that theoretic title.

And while Maradona has never been shy in publicising his own claims
over Pele's, he is less willing to blow his own trumpet when compared
to his Argentine compatriot.

"The (best player) lists make me laugh but there is one ability, most
of all one, that no one has ever had like Leo and myself: speed of
thought," Maradona told Saturday's Gazzetta dello Sport.

"When I coached him the thing I saw in him that reminded me of myself
was the lightning understanding of how the move would develop."

"It's an innate quality worthy of a computer. Had we been able to
communicate with someone who thought at the same speed we could have
both given even more."

Looking just at today's players, Maradona says Messi is in a league of
his own but he has a surprise in his top three.

"My rankings would be Messi, (Cristiano) Ronaldo and then Ibra (Zlatan
Ibrahimovic) and (Wayne) Rooney together and (Sergio) Kun Aguero is in
the top 10 but he's rising."

Maradona also turned his attention to his problems with the Italian
taxman, repeating his often stated claim that he does not owe the 38
million euros being claimed.

And Maradona insists he's been treated unfairly.

Nuclear Security Summit :PM arrives in Seoul to attend It..!

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived  for the March 26-27 Nuclear Security Summit, prior to which he will be on a two-day official visit to South Korea March 24-25.

At the Nuclear Security Summit, Manmohan Singh will join 57 world leaders, including US President Barack Obama, to discuss the global threat posed by nuclear terrorism and the measures required to prevent terrorists from gaining access to sensitive nuclear material and technologies.

In his departure statement in New Delhi Friday, Manmohan Singh called for maintaining the highest levels of nuclear security and safety to retain public support for harnessing the benefits of atomic energy.

"India is expanding its nuclear power programme to diversify its energy mix and enhance energy security. In order to retain public support for harnessing the benefits of nuclear energy, we must be able to assure them of the highest levels of nuclear security and safety," he said.

The need for nuclear security and safety was "even more important after the Fukushima accident in Japan last year", he added. Manmohan Singh pointed out in this context that India had prepared a national report on enhancing the global nuclear security architecture which will be shared during the summit.

The summit would also provide the opportunity to exchange views with a number of world leaders who will be attending the conclave, he said. Manmohan Singh said he looked forward to his bilateral meeting with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, at whose invitation he is making the May 24-25 official visit "to undertake a comprehensive review" of relations between the two countries "and identify new steps for the future".

With South Korea being a strategic partner and an important pillar of India's "Look East" policy, "we have a vibrant trade and investment relationship. Our partnership in science & technology, education and energy holds enormous promise", the Prime Minister said. An interaction with leading CEOs of South Korean corporations is scheduled for March 26 morning.

Report:World Children Report, 2012

UNICEF's Flagship State of the World Children Report 2012, says
urbanisation is leaving billions of children in cities across the
world excluded from vital services. More than 50 per cent of the
world's population today lives in urban areas. Of these, one billion
are children, devoid of any semblance of decent living.

In India, 377 million live in the urban centers. Out of them, 97
million are urban poor (the lowest 25 per cent section) as per Census
2011 data. An estimated 535 million will live in towns by 2026. This
would be 40 per cent of India's population.

The differential between urban non poor and urban poor children is
huge. For instance, more urban poor children below five are
underweight than rural children in the same group. While 47 per cent
urban poor kids are underweight, 46 per cent rural are underweight as
against 33 per cent urban children.

There is a shocking, 13-point difference in the Infant Mortality Rates
among urban non poor and urban poor children; 54 per cent more infants
die in urban poor families.

That's not all, 20 per cent more children are anaemic among urban poor
than among the urban non poor and one in every two children among the
urban poor is underweight.

Even on health services, the access of urban poor is shockingly low
with one in two women managing safe deliveries and 6 in every 10 being
anaemic (more than in rural areas)

Movie news :Actor Salman Khan , Jackie Chan in a Tamil film ?

Aascar Ravichandran, known for his grand projects produced at mammoth scales, has once again pulled a casting coup of sorts.

According to sources from tinsel town, Bollywood star Salman Khan has been roped in for Ravi's multi-starrer, multi-lingual film with Hollywood star Jackie Chan.
In an earlier interview to this newspaper, Ravi had said that the movie, which could be the sequel to Chan'sblockbuster Armour of God, would be produced at a staggering Rs 400 crore.
He had also revealed that it would have a B-town star and a Tamil 'mass' hero sharing screen space with Chan.
When DC contacted Ravi, he confirmed the news saying, "I have been discussing it with Jackie Chan for the last few years. The script has a global theme with an Indian connection. Yes, talks are on with Salman Khan.
Hopefully, we will seal the deal in a week's time. But we are yet to fix the Tamil star for the project." When asked if the K-town star would be the likes of Rajini and Kamal, the producer refused to divulge any further details.
However, his close aides say that neither 'Superstar' nor 'Ulaganayagan' will be roped in, as they are looking at relatively a younger actor for the high-action entertainment. Meanwhile, some sources say that Suriya is being considered.

TechNews:Redirect one page to another in Blogger..!

Blogger has launched an Array of Search Engine related features and one of them is the ability to create Custom Redirects. Technically Blogger allows you to create 302 Redirects which are used to specify that the Web Page has temporarily moved to a new location.

What is a redirect ?

A visitor coming to a particular web address is redirected to another web address. This process is called Redirect. Blogger allows you to create Internal Redirects which means that you will be able to redirect the user coming to a particular URL on your blog to another URL on your Blog.

When are Blogger Redirects Useful?

Consider a situation where a page on your Blog was really popular and later you decided to delete it for some reason. Since that page is popular, references to that URL might be there at multiple Blogs/Websites which linked to you. The users coming to that popular URL will now be greeted with a 404 Page not Found Error. You might be loosing some potential readers/subscribers here. One way of resolving this would be to redirect the guy to some other relevant page. This is exactly what Blogger's Custom Redirects do.

You can also use the Blogger Redirection Tool to create short links. For example you might want to redirect yourblog.blogspot.com/yourname to  your contact page. You can do that easily using the Blogger's Redirect Tool.

How to add Redirects?

I will describe this using an Example. I had a post about Meta Tags on my Blog. This entry was made some 4 years back  and when Blogger launched the new Search Options, it became irrelevant. So I just deleted that post and made a new entry in my Blog with the new details. Now the visitors coming to that 4 year old URL from various sources would be greeted with a 404 error. I don't want that to happen but I need that user to be sent to my new Blog Post.

  1. To do a Redirect you should have 2 URLs. The first one is the URL which should be redirected to the target. The target is the second URL where the user should be redirected to.
  2. The second thing that you have to do is to get the relative paths of these URLs.e.g.: The relative path to http://www.bloggerplugins.org/2008/06/meta-tags-for-blogger-blogspot.html is  /2008/06/meta-tags-for-blogger-blogspot.html . You might have already figured out that you should remove your Blog's home page URL from the URL to get the relative path. You should also make sure that the Relative path starts with a slash (/)
  3. Similarly you have to figure out the relative path to the Target URL. I opted for/2012/03/add-meta-description-tags-to-blogger.html
  4. Once you have got these 2 Relative paths, you can do the Redirect at Settings >Search Preferences > Errors & Redirects > Custom Redirects Add the From and To Fields there and click on the Save link and then on the Save SettingsButtonCustom Redirect Settings Blogger
  5. You can add more Redirects in a similar way.

Business News: Cheques, drafts to be valid for 3 months from April 1st

Come April 1 and cheques and bank drafts will be valid only for 3
months, a development that RBI thinks will help mitigate frauds
related to such instruments.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed that with effect from
April 1, 2012, banks should not make payments against cheques, drafts,
pay orders or banker's cheques if they are presented after the period
of three months from date of issue.

It has been brought to its notice by the government that some persons
were taking undue advantage of the six month validity of cheques,
drafts, pay orders, banker's cheques by circulating them like cash for
this period, RBI had said in a notification earlier.

According to a senior banker, the three-month validity period is a
good enough time period for instrument conciliation.

It was reported to Central Economic Intelligence Bureau that some
persons are taking undue advantage of the practice of banks of making
payment of cheques or draft presented within a period of six months
from the date of the instrument as these instruments are being
circulated in the market like cash for six months.

Reasons for white hair growth in teen age girls:

The white hair in teenage people is commonly known as prematurely
white or grey hair. This can happen due to many reasons. To begin
with, it is possible that this is a hereditary trait. If you are a
teenage girl and are suffering from white hair, you should check out
your family tree. It is possible that one of your parents or
grandparent has had this problem at some point in time and you were
not aware of it. If you have indeed inherited the problem, it is best
for you to know straight away that you may not be able to get rid of
it altogether. The best you can do is to try a few natural remedial
measures to prevent the further whitening of dark hairs. This may
enable you to have fewer white hairs in that the quantity of white
hairs may not increase. In order to make this positive change, you
would have to follow the methods mentioned regularly. To begin with,
you should start applying the powder of black cohosh regularly to your
scalp and roots. This product is available in stores that normally
sell natural or organic products. If you cannot get this in powder
form, you can buy it in pill or capsule form and take it to improve
the quality of your hair. This will also prevent further occurrence of
white hairs.
You should also follow a weekly method of hair care. Apply warm
coconut oil to your scalp at least once a week. This will provide
nourishment and is also known to prevent the whiteness of hair. You
can also eat Indian gooseberries if you can get them fresh. If not,
you can have them in powdered or pill form. These are easily available
in Indian grocery stores. Indian gooseberries are well known to
provide rich nourishment to hair and are also know to reduce the
discoloration of hair. If you wish to dye your hair without using
chemical dyes, you can use henna powder for this purpose. Make a paste
like mixture with two tablespoons of henna powder, a teaspoon of
coffee powder and enough water to make this easy to apply to your
scalp. Remember that you will also have to apply henna to your hair
strands if you wish to color your hair with it. This is not only a
rich conditioner; it will also help to hide the white hairs you have
developed.

Google doodle for Juan Gris' 125th birthday

Google doodle for the Spanish painter

To commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Spanish painter Juan Gris, the third Musketeer of Cubism (Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque were the other two) Google has painted a cubist doodle on its home page.

José Victoriano González, better known as Juan Gris (his pseudonym), was an important exponent of the second phase of cubism known as High Cubism and his dominant style was Synthetic Cubism.

The abstract art of Cubism was the last century's most revolutionary art movement.

Juan Gris was born on March 23, 1887, in Madrid, Spain and died at a young age of 40 on May 11, 1927 in Boulogne-sur-Seine, France.

Gris' Spanish roots are reflected in his paintings in which the guitar is a recurring theme and so are fruits and newspapers. The Google doodle in his honour also incorporates these three elements.

Google doodles have often celebrated noted painters. Gris' contemporary and compatriot Pablo Picasso's 121st birthday was celebrated with a Google doodle on October 25, 2002. Other legendary painters whose anniversaries have been observed on the Google home page include Vincet van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci.

The Google doodle commemorating Juan Gris's 125th birthday is, according to our calculations, the 1340th Google doodle since the first ever on for the Burning Man Festival back on August 30, 1998.
