WikiLeaks disclosures involve 3000 cables from Delhi to Washington

Among a cache of a quarter-million State Department cables released by
WikiLeaks, 3,038 are from the US embassy in India, but no details were
immediately available on the whistleblower website. Other cables
pertain to communications from US missions in Islamabad, Colombo and
Kathmandu.

India was one of the countries reached out by top US diplomats before
the much anticipated release of what the New York Times described as
"an unprecedented look at back-room bargaining by embassies around the
world, brutally candid views of foreign leaders."

"We have reached out to India to warn them about a possible release of
documents," State Department Spokesman P J Crowley said ahead of their
publication Sunday, spawning condemnation from the White House and
congressional leaders.

The United States had warned WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange
that publishing the papers would be illegal and endanger peoples'
lives.

Among the 251,287 cables provided by WikiLeaks to The Times 2,278
cables are from the US mission in Kathmandu, 3,325 from Colombo and
2,220 from Islamabad.

Many are unclassified, and none are marked "top secret," the
government's most secure communications status. But some 11,000 are
classified "secret," 9,000 are labelled "noforn," shorthand for
material considered too delicate to be shared with any foreign
government, and 4,000 are designated both secret and 'noforn'.

Publishing the documents would jeopardise "our diplomats, intelligence
professionals, and people around the world who come to the United
States for assistance in promoting democracy and open government,"
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

Senator John Kerry, Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign
Relations Committee, called the disclosure "reckless."

"This is not an academic exercise about freedom of information and it
is not akin to the release of the Pentagon Papers, which involved an
analysis aimed at saving American lives and exposing government
deception," Kerry said in a statement.

Peter King, the top Republican on the House Homeland Security
Committee, on Sunday called on the Obama administration to prosecute
Assange.

In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder King said WikiLeaks has
provided "material support to terrorist organizations" by releasing
the documents.

Hacker attack crashes Wikileaks website

Berlin: An apparent hacker attack crashed the Wikileaks website
Sunday, just as 250,000 leaked US diplomatic despatches were being
made public, but news media sites carrying edited versions of the
cables remained operational.

The www.wikileaks.org domain was brought down by a method known as
distributed denial of service (DDoS), in which a huge number of
computers repeatedly demand web pages from the server, shutting out
ordinary human users and causing the server to jam.

There was no indication on Sunday who might have mounted the attack.

On the social network Twitter, WikiLeaks announced, 'We are currently
under a mass distributed denial of service attack.'

Media which had advance access to the cables offered many of them via
their own websites. The publishing consortium included the Der Spiegel
of Germany, The New York Times, the London newspaper The Guardian and
El Pais of Madrid.

Julian Assange, the Australian who founded WikiLeaks, meanwhile
defended the release.

Speaking on al-Jazeera television, he said the cables told the
'diplomatic history' of global affairs and said, 'No single individual
has even come to harm as a result of anything that we have ever
published.'

The TV channel said he was speaking to its reporters in Jordan by
video link from an undisclosed location on Sunday.

Outraged lawmakers demand WikiLeaks be shutdown

Cutting across party lines, US lawmakers expressed their outrage at
what they called "illegal" publication of classified American
documents by WikiLeaks, and asked the Obama Administration to use all
legal means to shut down this whistleblower website.

"The release of classified information under these circumstances is a
reckless action which jeopardises lives by exposing raw,
contemporaneous intelligence," said Senator, John Kerry, Chairman of
the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

WikiLeaks lays bare nuclear standoff with Pakistan, hacking by China

"This is not an academic exercise about freedom of information and it
is not akin to the release of the Pentagon Papers, which involved an
analysis aimed at saving American lives and exposing government
deception," he said.

Instead, these sensitive cables contain candid assessments and
analysis of ongoing matters and they should remain confidential to
protect the ability of the government to conduct lawful business with
the private candor that's vital to effective diplomacy, he said.

WikiLeaks disclosures involve 3000 cables from Delhi to Washington

WikiLeaks' deliberate disclosure of these diplomatic cables is nothing
less than an attack on the national security of the United States, as
well as that of dozens of other countries, said Senator Joe Lieberman,
Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs
Committee.

"By disseminating these materials, WikiLeaks is putting at risk the
lives and the freedom of countless Americans and non-Americans around
the world.

It is an outrageous, reckless, and despicable action that will
undermine the ability of our government and our partners to keep our
people safe and to work together to defend our vital interests," he
said.

Clinton hits diplomatic trail after document leak

"Let there be no doubt: the individuals responsible are going to have
blood on their hands," Lieberman said and urged the Obama
Administration to use all legal means necessary to shut down WikiLeaks
before it can do more damage by releasing additional cables.

"WikiLeaks' activities represent a shared threat to collective
international security," he said.

This latest release of classified and other sensitive US documents by
WikiLeaks is extremely irresponsible, said Congresswoman, Ileana
Ros-Lehtinen, the incoming Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs
Committee.

"Those who leak and publish such information are doing great harm to
our nation, and are potentially putting American lives in danger," she
said.

Wikileaks reveals standoff over nuclear fuel in Pakistan

This newest batch of documents appears to contain troves of classified
reports related to our nation's conduct of diplomacy and foreign
policy, including reports of critical discussions with our allies, she
added.

"This is the everyday work-product of our officials all over the globe.

This critical and highly sensitive information must be managed
carefully," she said.

It is deeply disturbing that a few individuals seem to have deemed
themselves worthy of deciding that scores of classified and sensitive
material should be paraded about for our enemies to review and use
against us.

Hacker attack crashes Wikileaks website

These leaks come at the expense of US security and, potentially,
American lives," the Congresswoman said.

Lieberman said it is outrageous for WikiLeaks and its enablers to hide
their conduct behind the ideal of transparency.

"As a democracy, our nation has always believed the American people
should have access to as much information as possible.

But we have also long recognized that to keep our country safe some
information must be kept secret," he said.

Wikileaks' release includes 3,038 cables from New Delhi

"This is a balancing act that the American people themselves
ultimately control through our democratically-elected representatives
and our institutions.

What WikiLeaks is doing is to short-circuit this entire democratic
process claiming for itself the exclusive, unilateral, and unchecked
power to decide what should and shouldn't be made public.

This is therefore not only an attack on our national security, but an
offense against our democracy and the principle of transparency,"
Lieberman said.

Ratan Tata moves court against publication of Radia tapes

Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata group of companies, on Monday moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the unauthorised publication of telephone intercepts of corporate lobbyist Nira Radia in the 2G spectrum scam.

Ratan Tata has pleaded for the protection of his privacy and unauthorised publication of transcripts of the telephone intercepts. The transcripts are a part of evidence in the 2G spectrum scam that had cost the state exchequer thousands of crores of rupees.

Nitish clean sweeps opposition

Nitish Kumar led NDA alliance has won  206 seats to form the government in Bihar. Nithish's triumph in 2010 Assembly polls was the biggest victory for any political leader in the state.

Out of 243 Assembly seats, Janata Dal (United) has bagged more than 116 and its ally Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) has won more than 91 seats.

Former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad led RJD-LJP alliance faced a death blow in the Assembly elections. They got only 24 seats, where they won 143 seats in 2005 Assembly elections.

The Congress suffered a major electoral setback as it won only four seats compared to the nine it held in 2005.

Nitish creates history in Bihar

Creating history in Bihar's politics, Nitish Kumar once again back to the power of the state as the poll result on Nov 24 showed that Nitish won a landslide victory with JD(U) and the BJP alliance grabbed four-fifths of the seats (206) in the 243 assembly seats.

Nitish Kumar's victory is believed to the triumph of development, progress, caste-religion discrepancy or rather a successful triumph over gundaraj (reign of goons) in the state as Bihar was earlier known as.

From the very beginning, 2010 assembly polls counting hinted that JD(U)-BJP alliance would create a history in Bihar with their new win and they proved as clinching 206 seats, where JD(U) won 115 of the 141 seats.

what is HTML5?

what is  HTML5?

The evolution of the latest version of HTML known as HTML5, a set of capabilities that gives web designers and developers the ability to create the next generation of great online applications. Take the HTML5 <video> tag, for example. Video wasn't a major (or, really, any) part of the early web...

Other cool HTML5 features include offline capabilities that let users interact with web apps even when they don't have an internet connection, as well as drag-and-drop capabilities. In Gmail, for instance, easy drag-and-drop allows users to instantly attach a file to an email message by simply dragging the file from the user's desktop computer into the browser window.

HTML5, like the web itself, is in perpetualevolution, based on users' needs and developers' imaginations. As an open standard, HTML5 embodies some of the best aspects of the web: it works everywhere, and on any device with a modern browser. But just as you can only watch HDTV broadcasts on an HD-compatible television, you need to use an up-to-date, HTML5-compatible browser in order to enjoy sites and apps that take advantage of HTML5's features. Thankfully, as an Internet user, you have lots of choice when it comes to web browsers — and unlike TVs, web browsers can be downloaded for free.

The world’s most famous pin-up girl landed at Mumbai airport

Pamela boosts Bigg Boss 4......
The world's most famous pin-up girl landed at Mumbai airport on Monday evening in a short ash dress, high heels and a bright smile. But Pamela Anderson created more than just a stir. As soon as she moved out of the airport, all hell broke loose as people surrounded her, blocking the way to her car. Despite the heavy security and five bouncers, Pamela was pushed back to a glass wall of the airport. She had to turn back inside and move out from a different exit.
    "I have done "Big Brother
Australia". I am very excited. I always wanted to come to India; this is a great opportunity. I am looking forward to my stay," Pam told us, before being whisked away to the sets of the show where she is scheduled to be for three days.
SARI PAM
Those expecting Pamela to don a skimpy bikini are in for a surprise. Designer Ashley Rebello said, "I am in the process of
making a sari for her. The channel contacted me sometime back. I'm making a white chiffon sari for her with baadla work on it. There will be a little mirror work running all across the border. It has spaghetti straps and is accessorized by a backless blouse with a sexy neckline." Pam as a chiffon-clad Yash Chopra heroine? That'll be something to see!
HALT LEATHER TRADE
Pam has written a letter to the PM asking him to urge people to reject all leather products. "The reverence and love for animals felt by people in your beautiful country is deeply moving, yet one thing fills me and all compassionate people with horror: India's leather trade," the PETA ambassador said in a statement.

BSNL, MTNL have 14,000cr worth of extra spectrum

From times of india

BSNL, MTNL have 14,000cr worth of extra spectrum

The CAG report on the 2G spectrum scam has estimated that the exchequer lost nearly Rs 37,000 crore because additional spectrum beyond the contracted amount was allocated to existing operators without charging them anything from it. So who gained how much from this?
While the report gave the aggregate figure and a break-up of which service provider had how much of extra spectrum, it did not give a break-up of the extent to which different operators had gained. The basis for the calculation was, however, spelt out as the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
In essence, what these recommendations said was that this excess spectrum should be charged at rates varying from those obtained for the 3G spectrum to
nearly two times that level depending on how much of additional spectrum an operator holds and in which frequency band.
Calculations based on the suggested formula show that cumulatively the biggest gainer from not paying for this spectrum
has been the state-owned duo of BSNL and MTNL, with savings of nearly Rs 14,000 crore. Among the private operators, Airtel, which has saved Rs 8,520 crore, is the biggest beneficiary followed by Vodafone and BPL (see chart).
In all there are 9 operators who are currently holding such additional spectrum beyond the upper limit prescribed under the Unified Access Service Licence (UASL) agreement. Thus while the DoT on the one hand was not processing pending applications for licence due to non-availability of spectrum, on the other hand it was allotting spectrum to existing operators beyond the contracted limit.
Based on the CAG's estimates, about a fifth of the presumed loss to the exchequer as a result of the 2G scam was on account of this factor alone.

The master batsman completes 21 years

The master batsman completes 21 years (again, 21 years) in Test cricket on November 15 and continues to inspire generations of cricketers with room for improvement on his mind. Most runs, centuries, half-centuries, fours, sixes and what not – Sachin has broken every possible record in international cricket and is still on the prowl.

Arguably the greatest batsman of all time, Tendulkar's resurgence in the year gone by gives me hope that India might get to lay their hands on the World Cup trophy this time again. From 200 runs in ODIs to the ICC awards and most runs and all that, the genius still takes comfort in being the student of the game. His pure love for cricket and his country brings smiles on billions of faces; not to discount the amount of pressure Sachin is on whenever he walks out with that willow.

defination of cloud computing.

DEFINITION - Cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet.

Cloud computing is a technology that uses the internet and central remote servers to maintain data and applications.
Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to use applications without installation and access their personal
files at any computer with internet access. This technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory, processing and bandwidth.

A cloud service has three distinct characteristics that differentiate it from traditional hosting. It is sold on demand, typically by the minute or the hour; it is elastic -- a user can have as much or as little of a service as they want at any given time; and the service is fully managed by the provider (the consumer needs nothing but a personal computer and Internet access). Significant innovations in virtualization and distributed computing, as well as improved access to high-speed Internet and a weak economy, have accelerated interest in cloud computing.

A simple example of cloud computing is Yahoo email or Gmail etc. You dont need a software or a server to use them. All a consumer would need is just an internet connection and you can start sending emails. The server and email management software is all on the cloud ( internet) and is totally managed by the cloud service provider Yahoo , Google etc. The consumer gets to use the software alone and enjoy the benefits. The analogy is , 'If you only need milk , would you buy a cow ?' All the users or consumers need is to get the benefits of using the software or hardware of the computer like sending emails etc. Just to get this benefit (milk) why should a consumer buy a (cow) software /hardware ?

About the 2010 Asian Games

The 2010 Asian Games (XVI Asiad) are scheduled to be held from November 12 to November 27 in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. Athletes are scheduled to come from about 45 countries all over Asia to compete in the Asian sports Olympics. They will compete in standard sports like track and field, gymnastics and soccer (football) and in Asian sports like several styles of Asian martial arts. All together, athletes will compete in about 42 different sports. Besides seeing Asian athletes in action, spectators can see the opening and closing ceremonies and see one of China's relatively prosperous megacity regions.

Popular sports in China and East Asia include table tennis, soccer, badminton and martial arts. Along with these sports, there will be weightlifting, softball and rugby competitions. Basketball has become very popular among China's children and young people due to watching American NBA games and Yao Ming.

The competitions will actually be held in four cities of the Guangzhou metropolitan region. These are Guangzhou itself, Foshan, Dongguan and Shanwei. Dongguan is a large and somewhat polluted industrial city that is one of China's largest exporting areas. It is on the CHR bullet train between the Louhu border in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, so travel there is convenient and quick and takes only about 40 minutes.

As part of the games, there will be opening and closing festivities that can be watched at Haixinsha Island in the Pearl River. People expect a light show, a mysterious lightning show, and the usual choreographed marching and dancing, etc. The opening ceremonies are directed and organized by Chen Weiya who was the assistant director of the 2008 Summer Olympics. He said that the ceremony will "surprise the world." The show will begin about 8pm and the"mysterious lightning" will be unveiled at 9:42.

This is the second time that China has hosted the games. The first time was in 1990 when Beijing hosted the 11th Asian Games. The Asian Games are the world's second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games and are held every four years. Hosting the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou gives southern China a chance to showcase its new economic power and prosperity. Guangzhou is part of one of China's major megacities. It is in Guangdong Province, which is a major electronics manufacturing area of the world. Tickets are already on sale.

Mascot and Emblem

Visitors to Guangzhou will see strange horned goats: a big goat and four small goats. They will be all over the city: on TV, on the buses, on clothes, on signs and all over the place. Cartoons of these goats will be played over and over on the flat-screen displays on the public buses and the metro system. For some reason, they are Guangzhou's official mascot caricature, and so they will be the 2010 Asian Games mascots. These goats even have names. A Xiang "阿祥" (pronounced Ah Sshyang), A He "阿和" (Ah Her), A Ru "阿如" (Ah Roo), A Yi "阿意" (Ah Ee), and Le Yang Yang "乐羊羊" (Ler Yang-yang). There is a complex historical myth and story associated with these names. But all together, these names actually form a catch phrase with a kaleidoscope of meanings and connotations including "joy" and "foreign."

The emblem of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games was announced in 2006 (see picture below). In this emblem, there is the Asiad sun symbol that is the emblem of the Asiads, four tracks and the Olympic flame. There is an unofficial emblem (see right of page title banner) with the biggest goat at the top and the four little goats representing the four tracks.

Top 10 Highest Paid NBA Players ...

Top 10 Highest Paid NBA Players ...
10.
  Zach Randolph – Memphis Grizzlies

$17.3 million

Randolph has had a checkered NBA career and never lived up to the $84 million, six-year deal he signed in 2004. He had his most success last season when he made his first All-Star team and led the Grizzlies to a 16-game improvement in the win column. The NBA's highest-paid player is guard Kobe Bryant, who last season led the Los Angeles Lakers to its fifth title since he entered the league in 1996. This season he is the NBA's highest-paid player for the first time in his career with a salary of $24.8 million. Here are the count downs of top ten NBA's highest paid players. 9 More after the break...

09. Yao Ming – Houston Rockets

$17.7 million

Yao is one of the best centers in the game when healthy, but he was sidelined all of last season with a broken foot. Yao is in the final year of his contract with the Rockets and will have to prove he is healthy to command another big ticket contract.

08. Gilbert Arenas – Washington Wizards

$17.7 million

Injuries and a suspension for bringing guns into the locker room forced Agent Zero to miss 80% of his team's games since signing a $111 million deal in 2008. His contract with three-plus years left on it might be the most impossible to trade in the league.
07. Andrei Kirilenko – Utah Jazz

$17.8 million

Kirilenko is nicknamed AK-47 for his initials and number with the Jazz (he was also born in Russia, home to the famous assault rifle). He fills up a stat sheet with rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, but his production hasn't matched the $86 million deal he signed in 2004.

06. Pau Gasol – Los Angeles Lakers

$17.8 million

Gasol and Bryant are both under contract with the Lakers through the 2013-14 season. Gasol signed an extension during last season that added three years and $60 million to his existing deal.

05. Michael Redd – Milwaukee Bucks

$18.3 million

The Bucks' sharpshooter has seen his last two seasons cut short by serious knee injuries. Redd's salary is likely to take a major haircut when his six-year, $90 million deal expires after this season.

04. Tim Duncan – San Antonio Spurs

$18.7 million

Duncan can make a strong case as the greatest power forward to ever play the game with four titles, two MVP awards and nine selections to the All-NBA first team. His current contract with the Spurs expires after next season.

03. Kevin Garnett – Boston Celtics

$18.8 million

Garnett's massive $126 million contract signed during his third season in the league was a major reason behind the NBA lockout that shortened the 1998-99 season. The Big Ticket was the league's highest-paid player for three straight years until Tracy McGrady took the title last season.

02. Rashard Lewis – Orlando Magic

$20.5 million

Lewis signed a $118 million, six-year deal as a free agent in 2007 after nine seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics. Lewis has seen his scoring average decline three straight years.

01. Kobe Bryant – Los Angeles Lakers

$24.8 million

Bryant is the NBA's top-paid player for the first time this season. The $83.5 million, three-year extension he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in April assures he will stay on top through the 2013-14 season.
