Max memory limits for 64-bit Windows 7

While the maximum RAM limit for 32-bit Windows 7 editions is 4GB, when
it comes to the 64-bit editions, the amount of memory that the OS can
address depends on which edition you are running.

Here are the upper RAM limits for the different editions of Windows 7:

Starter: 8GB
Home Basic: 8GB
Home Premium: 16GB
Professional: 192GB
Enterprise: 192GB
Ultimate: 192GB
These limits are similar to those for Vista editions, expect that
Vista Enterprise and Vista Ultimate have had their upper limits raised
from 128GB to 192GB.

The one to look out for there is the 16GB limit on Home Premium. If
you're building a Core i7 system then it's quite easy (if you have the
cash!) to exceed this limit. As long as you're aware of the limit and
plan your OS accordingly you'll be OK.

Apple beats Nokia: Becomes highest selling smart phone seller

NOKIA NO longer reigns as the supreme brand as Apple has toppled the
Finnish company and takes its place as the top most smartphone brand.
This was the one area where Nokia was the personal favourite of many
but here also the US company has beaten Nokia. Apple became the top
most brand to sell the highest number of smart phones in the world.
The results were affirmed when Apple shipped 20.3 million iPhones, and
in the same time frame Nokia shipped around 16.7 million smart phones.
Apart from this data, the analysis of International Data Corporation
(IDC), which keeps a tab of the technology market said that Nokia
globally, covers only 16 percent of the smart phones market contrary
to 37 percent of the market which it occupied last year.
Nokia, which was once the favourite of many, still holds the number
one place in the basic handset market but as analysts are saying, soon
it would also be overtaken by the Samsung phones.
If the Finnish company fails to either deliver good phones at lower
price or very good features in its own price then its doomsday is
    near.
Already, so many low-cost alternatives are available in the market
that Nokia is losing its hold. Apple on the other hand is winning due
to the fact that they are bringing in their own applications and
softwares, which is also lacking in Nokia.
In both the high end and low end market, Nokia's market share has
lowered by 25 percent. According to IDC, "Nokia is bleeding on all
fronts. On the smartphone segment its portfolio is not attractive in
terms of user experience, ecosystem and even price. Since the company
started struggling in 2009, a price differentiation strategy was
pursued to keep volumes high, but even this is not working anymore.
Consumers can already find better Android devices at lower prices than
    Nokia smart devices."
This gets worse for Nokia as Apple is rumoured to launch a cheap
iPhone very soon, which would further take down the Nokia Company.
Nokia hopefully takes the clue and does something about it as the
picture is not looking that rosy anymore.

Oppenheimer who in a statement said that the company has sold all the
    gadgets it had manufactured.
Incidentally, in 2010, somewhere around the same time, the Cupertino
based company recorded profits by the sales of its iPhones and iPads.
As per Apple Inc, with the sales of 20.34 million iPhones in the
quarter, the company recorded growth of 142 per cent and with the

One lakh jobs can be created by cloud computing by 2015

One lakh jobs can be created by cloud computing by 2015

A research led by Zinnov Management Consulting and an IT firm EMC
Corporation has found that cloud computing in India can create up to
one lakh jobs in an industry worth $4.5 billion.
THE RATE with which technology keeps on expanding, in all likeliness,
cloud computing may create close to 100,000 jobs in India by 2015, as
stated by media reports. The research led by Zinnov Management
Consulting and an IT firm EMC Corporation noticed that of the
projected $4.5-billion total cloud computing market in India by 2015,
private cloud will account for $3.5 billion, generate about 100,000
additional jobs and save about 50 per cent of cost of IT operations
    for Indian enterprises.
Explaining the research findings furthermore, Zinnov's Chief Executive
Pari Natarajan was quoted saying that there will be an increased
preference of cloud adoption over the next five years in India. The
total cloud market, which was about $400 million in 2010, is expected
to grow by a whopping 60 per cent annually with private cloud
    dominating the landscape.
However, the research also noticed that Indian companies in
partnership are better armed for enterprise services and other
companies would have to focus on its investing and building on the
competency levels because as of now, they are not prepared to take on
the challenges, when compared with the established players.
Natarajan was also quoted saying that cloud computing will reshape the
Indian IT market by generating new opportunities for vendors and
driving changes in traditional IT offerings.

BlackBerry makers cut 2,000 jobs in Canada

BlackBerry makers Research in Motion (RIM) on Monday slashed 2,000
jobs in Waterloo in Canada thus bringing its total workforce to
17,000. Soon after the news broke out, arch rival iPhone's shares shot
    up considerably.
SITUATION WAS tense at the BlackBerry headquarters in Waterloo in
Canada when the parent company, Research In Motion (RIM) axed almost
11 per cent of its total workforce worldwide on Monday. The
technological giant, which introduced the world to smart phones,
brought down its workforce to 17,000 after giving 2,000 employees the
    pink slip.
The cut, which is undoubtedly the steepest in the company's history,
saw the employees being fired from its 9000 strong staff from the
    headquarters in Waterloo.
Local newspapers were quoted saying that dozens of cabs were
dispatched to company offices in Cambridge and Waterloo, where
employees were escorted out of the door by security guards - moments
after getting their layoff notices. Clutching manila folders, about 50
workers were led to waiting taxis, which drove them home.
The report further stated that if anyone was panicking within RIM on
the day the company announced its worst job losses since its creation
in 1984, no one would admit it publicly. The troubled high-tech firm,
which employs about 9,000 locally, has laid off people before - 200
last month and another 220 nine years ago - but it's never faced a
    slashing of jobs like this.
Soon after the news broke out, BlackBerry's arch rival iPhone recorded
    heavy upsurge in its shares.

been attracting people from various walks of life and different age

    Facebook removes Google+ ad

    Facebook removes Google+ ad

Web developer Michael Lee Johnson decided he wanted to quickly grow his number of Google+ friends. The best place to find people willing to friend you is of course Facebook, so Johnson ran a Facebook ad asking people to add him to their Circles on Google+. Facebook was not amused.

The ad was headlined "Add Michael to Google+." It was short and to the point: "If you're lucky enough to have a Google+ account, add Michael Lee Johnson, Internet Geek, App Developer, Technological Virtuoso."

Facebook removed his ad, and banned him from running ads on the social network altogether. Johnson posted the following via his Google+ account (via TechCrunch):

LOL: I recently ran a Google+ advertisement on Facebook that got all of my campaigns suspended. - Great.

Facebook sent him the following message explaining why the ad was removed:

Your account has been disabled. All of your adverts have been stopped and should not be run again on the site under any circumstances. Generally, we disable an account if too many of its adverts violate our Terms of Use or Advertising guidelines. Unfortunately we cannot provide you with the specific violations that have been deemed abusive. Please review our Terms of Use and Advertising guidelines if you have any further questions.

Since Facebook doesn't say, it's not clear which rule – actually it could have been more than one – Johnson broke. It is worth noting, however, that the company has a Refusal of Ads clause in the Facebook Advertising Guidelines:

We may refuse ads at any time for any reason, including our determination that they promote competing products or services or negatively affect our business or relationship with our users.

There's nothing wrong with a company having guidelines that are as beneficial to it as possible. Still, I don't think Facebook should have killed all of Johnson's ad campaigns.

Now you will be able to identify spam calls and sms

DoT is trying hard to curb telemarketing calls and Smses, which are so
rampant these days. After installation of a DO NOT CALL register by
TRAI, they are coming up with a mobile and landline number, which will
    be identifiable as spam.

NOW, PEOPLE in the middle of the afternoon or night will not have to
get irritated on answering marketing calls, at least over the phone.
The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) is coming up with a
dedicated landline to mobile number series that can be used to
identify marketing calls and this would happen within a month.

According to a Telecom Ministry official, within a month customers
will not be harassed with unwanted calls and SMSs. To quote him, "The
Department of Telecom has sorted the issue to allot the number series
for landline consumers with the security agencies. Now its a matter of

Blackberry to be number 1 with seven new handsets and new OS

The seven new Blackberry handsets, which would be launched soon, would have a new Operating system. The CEO's of the company are hopeful of conquering their number one position in the market.

AMIDST pressure of maintaining and protecting market share, and concerns of share holders, the two CEOs of Blackberry announced that seven new handsets with a new Operating System would be launched in the market for their customers soon. The two CEOs, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis, who also handle the company's Research in Motion (RIM) made this announcement to keep the investor's anger at bay.

For many days now whispers of the company made free of the management is going on, owing to the RIM's stock that has grown lower than 50 percent and setting somewhere at $27 now. It is the time to take some drastic measures as the company seems to be in trouble. In the meeting, which the management had on Tuesday, the launch of the seven new sets was announced in the hope that it would somehow make the investors happy.

They guaranteed to the investors that with the launch of these phones they are going to be number one in the market again. Lazaridis, who started RIM in 1980 said, "It (the new Bold) may have delayed us, but we are going to come out ahead. Mike and I, along with the executive team, are closely managing this transition and have positioned the company for continued future success." He also announced that the seven phones would have the same Operating System as used in the PlayBook tablet.

After the introduction of the iPhones and the Android devices in the market, Blackberry has fallen from its supreme position to number three. There were also rumours of Apple or Microsoft buying off RIM, which now cost only $14 billion. Stalling all rumours, the RIM CEo's said that nothing of the sort is in the cards for them and that they would again conquer the markets.

World’s first double leg transplant carried out in Spain

A Spanish medical team has carried out the world's first double leg transplant, hospital sources said in the eastern city of Valencia.
The young patient could not use prostheses, making a transplant the only alternative to him spending his life in a wheelchair, medical team leader Pedro Cavadas said earlier.

The operation was authorised in May 2010, but the medical team needed to wait for a donor. The operation, which lasted an entire night, was performed at Valencia's La Fe hospital. Cavadas has also previously carried out face and arm transplants.
