Gujarat topped the list of most preferred business destination in India in year 2011.
According to Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India [ASSOCHAM] report, released on 13 February 2012, Gujarat at the end of 2011 got the total investment proposal worth Rs. 16.28 lakh crore.

Gujarat recorded 13.52 per cent stake in the total live investment proposals worth Rs 120.34 lakh crore in the country at the end of the year 2011.

Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Karnataka with 53.56% of total live investment, emerged as the most favourite destination for investment in the country.

Maharashtra, which came second after Gujarat, drew total investment proposals worth Rs.14.14 lakh crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh (Rs. 12.09 lakh crore), Odisha (Rs. 12.09 lakh crore), Karnataka (Rs 9.85 lakh crore) and Tamil Nadu (Rs 9.13 lakh crore).Top five states witnessed maximum investment in Electricity and Manufacturing sectors.
