Admission to Ph.D programme for the autumn semester of 2013-14 session
Applications are invited in prescribed form from eligible candidates for admission to the Ph.D programme under the following departments for the autumn semester of 2013-14 session
Islamic Theology: Quran, Hadith, Tafseer, Fiqah and Islamic Studies related to Theology
Arabic: Arabic Linguistics, Modern Arabic Literature, Islamic Jurisprudence and Rhetoric
English: Post-1950 British Poetry, Literature and Gender, Literature and Cultural Exclusion, Islamic Heritage and World Literature, Indian Writing in English, Post-colonial Shakespeare, Eco-criticism
Bengali: Linguistics and Culture, Folk, Medieval and Modern Bengali Literature
Geography: Urban and Regional Planning, Population Geography, Environmental Geography, Agriculture Geography
History: Education and Movements around Muslim Upliftment and Welfare, Women's studies, Muslim Nationalism in India
Chemistry: General Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Heterocyclic Synthesis, Kinetics, Biophysics
Mathematics: Mathematical Biology, Graph Theory, Fuzzy Set Theory, Solid Mechanics, Operator Theory/Functional Analysis, Astrophysics
Physics: Nano Technology, Meta-material, Material Science, Astrophysics
Eligibility: A Master's degree in the concerned or allied subject from a UGC recognized university/institute or such other degree as may be considered adequate for this purpose by this university, with at least a CGPA of 6.0 in 10-point scale or 55% marks
Electrical Engineering: Control System
Electronics and Communication Engineering: Wireless Sensor Network
Eligibility: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in the concerned or allied subject from a UGC recognized university/institute or such other degree as may be considered adequate for this purpose by this university, with at least a CGPA of 8.0 on a 10-point scale or 75% marks
Admission Test: Candidates have to appear for admission test followed by interview to be conducted by the respective dept of the university
The admission test is waived for the candidates who have qualified in NET/GATE/SET/SLET/ UGC (JRF)/CSIR (JRF)/or Teacher Fellowship, or in equivalent examinations or those having an M.Tech/M.E./M.Phil degree, with CGPA above 6.5 in a 10-point scale
However, they shall be required to appear in the interview
Scholarship: Some selected candidates will be offered scholarship-cum-teaching assistantship in the respective dept
Application Form: Duly filled in application form accompanied by an A/c payee demand draft of Rs 500/- payable at Kolkata in favour of the Registrar, Aliah University (please write the name and subject applied for on the back of the demand draft), two copies of the recent passport size photograph (identical with the same pasted in the form) and other documents regarding age, qualifications, experience etc duly attested by the candidate must reach the Office of the Registrar, Aliah University, Salt Lake Campus, DN-41, Sector-V, Salt Lake, Kolkata– 700091 on or before 08th April, 2013

Date of Admission Test and Interview: 02nd June, 2013 (Sunday)
Date of Publication of the List of selected candidates: 17th June, 2013 (Monday)
Date of Admission to Ph.D. programme: 20th June, 2013 (Thursday) to 24th June, 2013 (Monday)
